Jermaine Jenas’ Inappropriate Texts Could Have Led to 7 Years in Prison

Jermaine Jenas, former presenter of The One Show and regular on Match of the Day, has been sacked by the BBC following allegations of inappropriate behaviour. The corporation confirmed the termination of his contract, with a BBC spokesperson stating, “We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”

Jenas, 41, later admitted to sending inappropriate messages to two BBC colleagues but strongly denied any illegal activity, insisting he never sent any sexual pictures or videos. “I just want to apologise to everyone I have hurt through my actions. I am sorry,” Jenas said in a statement.

However, new, more serious allegations have surfaced from a woman who worked with Jenas during the Qatar World Cup in December 2022. According to The Daily Mail, she claims Jenas repeatedly begged her for bikini photos and sent her an explicit image of himself.

The woman alleged that Jenas began texting her after they met in Doha, with messages that she says were unsolicited. In one message, he allegedly wrote, “I keep thinking these are pics of u when they arrive – when it arrives I’m like… oh nice finally I get to see this body.”

Jenas also allegedly asked multiple times for bikini photos and invited her to a Calvin Harris concert, bragging that Harris was his “boy,” implying close friendship. When the woman didn’t understand the term, Jenas reportedly replied, “Hang on. You want my boy now?” followed by a laughing emoji.

The woman further claimed that after refusing to send the pictures Jenas requested, he sent her a photo of his private parts. “I was shocked, I felt violated. The whole time I’d replied to his messages because I felt I had to, it was my job to bring in clients, but always keeping my distance and I said I wouldn’t send him the photos he wanted,” she told The Daily Mail.

She also pointed out the risks in the context of their location, stating, “We were in Qatar, where sex outside marriage is illegal. What he wanted could have got us locked up for seven years.” According to her, Jenas was persistent, and when she ignored his explicit picture, he followed up with, “Didn’t you like it?” before blocking her when she didn’t respond.

Reflecting on his sacking from the BBC, the woman added, “I was hoping never to hear about him again, but his sacking from the BBC just confirmed the type of person I thought he was. A liar, a traitor, who doesn’t respect his family and doesn’t respect women who make it clear they aren’t interested.”

A source close to Jenas, however, told The Sun, “Jermaine completely denies these texts were unsolicited. They were between two consenting adults. She handed Jermaine her number and was trying to arrange to meet him, whilst desperate for him to bring his VIP mates to her parties. Funny now more than two years on the texts were not wanted.”

The BBC reiterated its position, with a spokesperson saying, “As we have explained previously, he is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”
